'App of the day' interview with the creators of the 'Student Health Matters' app

Student Health Matters App

Knut Schroeder and Theresa Lehnen, who led the creation of the 'Student Health Matters' app on behalf of the Irish Student Health Association, were interviewed by 'App of the Day'.

Talking about their experiences in developing the app, they said:

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

"The main aim of the app is to help students in Ireland find reliable, evidence-based health information in one place, so they don’t have to google their symptoms. The app also signposts useful further sources of information and support."

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

"The Student Health Matters app is the first of its kind resource for 3rd level college students in Ireland. It's really easy to use and works offline – a bonus in areas where there's a poor internet connection, or during a crisis. We're proud to have co-created the app in partnership with students. The App is available for iPhone and Android and is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. What's innovative about the app is that it makes a lot of content very easily accessible to students and has additional information on how to stay healthy during their college years. The content which is based on Irish healthcare information and services is specific to the student’s needs."
